Voted Ireland’s Bar of the Year 2022

Events

We believe in the power of the collective. We host regular tastings and events championing brands from our native homeland and further afield.

With their home just outside Glendalough in Wicklow the brand has been responsible for some of the biggest Irish Whiskey releases in recent times including the ever popular Wild Botanical Gin, the first of many mizunara whiskey cask finishes throughout the industry and even a celebrity sports man as an investor ( thankfully not that one). Now acquired by major drinks company, Mark Anthony (No, not that one) Brands we look forward to tasting what they have been up to and what plans they have in store.

A whiskey for the modern world, Method & Madness turned tradition on its head when it launched in 2017. Supported by a new micro distillery within the Midleton compound the brand has played on a unique approach to maturation, distilling and world’s first releases. BAR 1661 presents a one off line up of cask samples and bottling hosted by Irish Distillers most passionate Ambassador, This is a tasting that will appeal to novices and enthusiasts alike, not to be missed.

Founded in 2012 Dingle Distillery was born of long routed craft brewing heritage as the founders took their knowlegde into the first craft distillery on the island. Something magic was to follow as the excitement around first, second, third and even more releases penetrated whiskey enthusiast circles everywhere. Everyone from collectors to spectators jumped in as bottles began to trade in the thousands. As things have streamlined in recent years we are excited to hear what they have to offer and what’s in-store for the future.

Whiskey Ambassador, brand manager, Belfast Coffee enthusiast, accountant, just some of the titles that could be given to Jarlath Watson of The Echlinville Distillery. A well loved character Jarlath has been the face of Echlinville since 2013 overseeing the relaunch of some of Ireland’s most iconic whiskey brands. Led by their Single Malt specialist, Dunvilles Whiskey they have now introduced a Pot Still range under the icon of Old Comber. An obsession with quality made possible by an unrivalled professional patience has seen them picking up a host of Irish and International awards. The first to host a tasting at BAR 1661 we are always honoured to have him share the stage with us.
